Universal Studios Singapore is a flagship attraction of Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa lifestyle and entertainment complex. Visitors who embark on a tour of Universal Studios are able to join in the thrills with their favourite film characters. The excitement ranges from live music shows featuring the Universal Monsters cats to riding the hair-raising Battlestar Galactica roller-coasters.

From the day it opened in 2010, Universal Studios has been a staple of Singapore’s eclectic attractions. Hundreds of thousands of tourists pass through its majestic entry arch each year. It boasts seven themed precincts arranged around a central lagoon. The zones are Hollywood, New York, The Lost World, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, Madagascar and Far Far Away. They are all based on Universal’s blockbuster productions.

Waterworld is a Lost World show centred on the 1990s film of the same name. The Lost World’s other chief draw is the opportunity of walking tall with the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. Madagascar offers all the fun of the animated films with its central characters and the Crate Adventure riverboat ride.

Sci-Fi City is home to the Battlestar Galactica twin roller-coasters, Human and Cylon. Riding these is the ultimate adventure. The Accelerator is a high-adrenalin twister ride in the same zone. Transformers The Ride allows for the once-in-lifetime treat of joining the fight against evil in glorious 3D technicolour.

In Far Far Away, the Shrek 4-D Adventure invites audiences to take part in a fairytale adventure with Princess Fiona and the rest of the crew. Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey is another exciting Universal ride. There are 24 rides and shows altogether and a number of these are exclusive to Singapore.

Visiting Universal Studios Singapore on the weekend or a public holiday provides the added bonus of witnessing the Hollywood Dreams Parade. All your children’s beloved fantasy personalities sing and dance in this showbiz spectacular. Dining and retail outlets are varied. Each of the zones has its own restaurants and shops. There are also various other outlets dotted around the theme park.

The StarBot Café in Sci-Fi City serves Asian specialities like chicken yakitori while the delicious ice-creams at Stardots even entice freedom fighters to retreat for a short break. Other eateries to choose from include Mel's Drive-In and the Hollywood China Bistro. Both of these are near Singapore’s version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Many younger visitors say the shopping at Universal Studios Singapore is as good as the attractions. Stores like the Minion Mart and Transformers Supply Vault stock bountiful choices of souvenir merchandise. The park opens daily at 10:00. It closes at 19:00, but later at weekends. Access is via the Sentosa monorail Waterfront Station.
