Visit Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and immerse yourself in the calm and peaceful ambiance of the park. It has a mix of early and late blooming trees thus making it a perfect place for a hanami destination if you miss the main season by one week or two. The Cherry Blossoms are especially more beautiful at night when the trees are lit up at night. There are also plenty of food stands to buy local Japan snacks or meals from Yasukuni Shrine.

At the Yasukuni Shrine, there are thousands of Cherry Trees planted. It is also a Shinto Shrine which was founded by Emperor Meiji. The shrine is where people who passed away in service of the Empire of Japan is commemorated. The empire existed during the Meiji Restoration back in 1869 until 1947 during the Allied occupation. Nowadays, it also commemorates those who passed away during the wars involving Japan since the Meiji and Taisho period and some parts during the Showa period. Next stop is at the Sotobori Park which sits on top of the Edo-era castle ruins. You can take a stroll along the promenade there are moats and old gardens.
